Meet the Founder
A scent that carries you home
Hello, my name is Britney. I grew up between two very different cultures in Asia — Taiwan and Thailand — and moved to the US at eighteen. I am currently a student at USC, studying Business and Cinematic Arts, though my hours outside class belong to fashion and fragrance.
The breeze on my face during motorcycle rides with my grandmother, the aged pages of Tang poetry in the school library, the frangipani blossoms that fell on my shoes at the door — each marked by its own distinct scent.
At college I met people from all over who, like me, were chasing something in a foreign country. We kept returning to the same conversation: the small ache of missing home, and how quickly a familiar smell could close the distance. Frangipani grew out of that — named for the tree in my childhood garden.

Frangipani was established to share the unique and often underexplored fragrances of Asia with a broader audience — forest-cool Hinoki, sunlit Litsea Cubeba, and other Oriental-inspired notes. Our aim is to help people reconnect with their roots, and revisit the memories that come with them.
Our products are designed with simplicity at their core, in the belief that nature’s purest forms are the most effective route to rest, relief and a steadier mind. Nothing is added that the skin would not recognise.

How do I choose my first oil?
Start with the mood rather than the note. If you want to wind down, a woody oil like hinoki settles a room; if you want lift, a citrus like bergamot or litsea cubeba is easier to live with. Our guide on how to choose the right essential oils walks through it in more detail.
What does “GC-MS tested” mean?
Gas Chromatography / Mass Spectrometry separates an oil into its individual compounds and measures each one. Every batch we bottle is tested, so what is on the label is what is in the bottle — no fillers, no synthetic extenders.
Are the oils safe to use on skin?
Essential oils are concentrated, so they are diluted before they touch skin — in a carrier oil, or in one of our body oils, which are already blended for it. The roll-ons are pre-diluted and ready to use. Patch test first, and keep citrus oils off skin that is about to see strong sun.
